So the 11/10 of a K-horn for high volume rock versus the AN E's 8/10 is made up for by the AN E's 10/10 on vocals versus the KHorns 4/10 on vocals. The more sibilant quality in Klipsch and Tannoy are less noticeable in rock passages at high volumes and they're fun - but that quality takes them out of serious contention when listening to Eva Cassidy or Loreena McKennett. That said the human voice is vastly better on an AN speaker than a Tannoy or Klipsch if your hearing is any good. Big Horn - bigger sound bigger dynamic drive.
I have ALWAYS said that though so it's never been me being a fanboy and saying anything else. If one is mainly a rock and roll listener or Metallica-head then a big K-Horn or Westminster is going to play with more dynamic ease at rock concert levels. With speaker comparisons it depends on what volume level and what you're listening to. So he ran SS with the lower sensitive AN E models. It offers in the 40 watt range if I remember so you are getting a more powerful amplifier that is the closest thing to an Audio Note amplifier than probably exists. You could also look at the Rogers amplifier - it was designed or co-designed by Audio Note for Rogers. if there was a power amp version of it (I don't know) that would probably resemble an OTO more than most. My Sugden A48B was an integrated amplifier that sounded quite valve like - more-so than the A21a. I could be wrong as I am not a designer but it would seem to me that the best SS power amps for an Audio Note preamp would be"īe regarded as a valve sounding amplifier (Sugden/First Watt) But SS with their high negative feedback high damping factors can bully Audio Note speakers - but since you are not using AN speakers then it would seem to me that finding out what Tannoy speaker owners use a lot for their speakers combined with whether that amp would work well with an AN preamp are the key factors. The preamp has more influence on resulting sound in my view. So partnering an AN preamp to a non AN power amp might require some dealers here to help you out if they carry other brands and have tried combinations.
